In 1980, we initiated the Thursday
Evening Twilight Racing to encourage low-key family racing. Over the years
this program has grown; last year, 15 yachts participated from Halloween
Yacht Club. This year we welcome yachts of non-members to join us. The
racing begins at twilight. The first race of the 2011 season is May 19 and
the last is August 18 for a total of 14 races. There is a pizza party at
the Club after the 7th race of the Spring Series on June 30 and
after the 7th race of the Summer Series on August 18.
After each race, skippers and crew return
to the Club for refreshments and results. The winners explain how they won
and the losers can be depended upon to provide lessons for learning and
application next week. Twilight racing extends all summer long, from mid-May
to early September. Whether you're a serious racing competitor or just
looking for an excuse to admire the sunset, the Thursday night Twilight
series will give you an opportunity to improve your sailing skills and, have
a lot of fun!
